The Blue River country of Southeast Nebraska and Northern Kansas
is my homeland. I was born and raised here and I've spent most of my
life here. It's too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, but I'm still
here so I continue to photograph this place.
My hometown of Beatrice was once called the Queen City of the Blue.
Here, the Big Blue River flows under the Court Street bridge on its way south.
The Blue Springs Power Plant once used the Big Blue River
to provide power for all the residents of the area.
The Courthouse in Beatrice is on the Register of Historic Places.
The Homestead National Monument, five miles west of Beatrice
is the site of the first homestead claim under the Homestead Act
that opened the West to settlement.
Seward is in the Northern section of Blue River Country and is known
as Nebraska's Fourth of July City.
